To manage, check, and install firmware for an older Motorola phone using the Motorola Device Manager tool, follow these steps:

  1. Download and Install Motorola Device Manager: If you haven't done so already, download and install the Motorola Device Manager from the official Motorola Support website. Ensure you download the correct version for your operating system.

  2. Connect Your Motorola Phone: Use a USB cable to connect your Motorola phone to your computer. Make sure the phone is recognized by the computer.

  3. Launch Motorola Device Manager: Open the Motorola Device Manager software on your computer. The software should automatically detect your connected device.

  4. Check for Updates: Within the Motorola Device Manager, there should be an option to check for software updates. Click on this option to see if there are any available updates for your phone's firmware.

  5. Install Firmware Updates: If there are firmware updates available, the software will guide you through the process of downloading and installing the updates. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully to complete the installation.

  6. Restart Your Phone: Once the firmware update is installed, it may be necessary to restart your phone to apply the changes.

Please ensure your phone has sufficient battery charge during this process to prevent any interruptions.

The Motorola Device Manager does not typically install modem drivers via an installation CD. Instead, it provides device management and file synchronization for your Motorola phone. If you are looking for specific modem drivers, you can try connecting your Motorola device to your computer with the Motorola Device Manager installed; it should automatically install any necessary drivers. Alternatively, visit the official Motorola Support website or the support page for your specific device model to download the latest drivers.

The program in your tablet was installed only so that it can be recognized by the desktop version of MDM. It just provides functions and features to make your life easier when you connect the tablet to a PC.

Motorola Device Manager is an application developed to support a wide range of Motorola devices as long as they have Android as the operating system. Unfortunately, Verizon e815 is called a feature phone that lacks the Android operating system and can't be used with the Motorola Device Manager. These phones have their own proprietary applications that can be installed on PCs to transfer the data (contacts, SMS, multimedia files, etc).

You should check the installation package on the CD that arrived with your phone to be able to connect it to PC.

I have tried several times to sync ripped MP3 files from a desktop to my Moto G (2nd Gen) phone. I'm doing this through Windows Media Player. It says "Sync finished," but the files never show up on my phone. These are audiobook CDs from the library. Will this device manager help me do this?

The Motorola Device Manager application is primarily used to update the firmware on the supported devices. I've attached a Motorola phone to my PC and launched MDM, but it only checked the firmware version and nothing else which means you need to use another procedure to transfer the contacts from mobile to PC.

Most of the Android devices have a possibility of exporting contacts from its interface. Locate the Contacts icon, then press on Settings > Export. Select the contacts you want to export and confirm the procedure. The file will most likely be saved in the root of your internal storage.

The file will be in VCF or CSV format. VCF will be opened by Windows, while CSV is more versatile and can be loaded into Excel.
